Abstract

One of the cultures most resistant to technology implementation in the modern postindustrial world is that of handicraft, as evidenced by its political and historical attitude. This article investigates the primary barriers for technological application in handicraft training, as well as approaches to capitalize on the connection between the traditional handcraft sector and modern developments. The evolution of ICT causes a shakeup in the traditional methods by which organizations function today. They alter and reshape how people can and do take part in the global market. By enabling a P2P e-commerce model between producer/seller and consumer/customer, ICT not only improves access to global marketplaces but also encourages customer involvement in content production and makes it easier to promote products. This research examines the impact of digital technology on the growth prospects of handicraft producers, be they solo artists or small and medium-sized enterprises. The study seeks to explain and recommend the complete transformation of the handicraft businesses through an analysis of the potential presented by the internet markets for handicrafts. The emphasis here is on the digital resources that help artisans access and participate in international handicraft markets. The study's findings point to the advantages of online markets for handcraft makers seeking to raise their businesses' levels of competitiveness.
