General scientific significance of C. Darwin's evolutionary theory

In the presented article the author examines the general scientific significance of Charles Darwin's evolutionary teaching. The influence of the theory of evolution on the development of social, humanitarian and natural sciences, on the formation of ideas about the mechanisms of social development in the public consciousness is characterized.
