Background. The proposed research is devoted to the unexplored and current issues of cultural heritage of Ukrainian seventeenth century. Including Baroque literature, that is a part of the European Baroque. Baroque fell on difficult times and liberation ruins. This led to the emergence of literary genres such as thoughts, songs, drama, eulogies dedicated to Cossack figures, Ukrainian historical works of chroniclers. Militant pathos, knightly pride, exaltation of heroism are characteristic for Ukrainian Baroque literature. Review of scientific sources on selected subject proves lack of purposeful studies of the formation and development of Ukrainian Baroque literature of heroic and stoic direction. Most of the existing work focuses on the problems of formation and development of other areas of Baroque culture, including art and architecture. However, the scientific definition of the above omissions is undoubtedly important and forms the basis of research objective. Results. The central aspect of the analysis carried out in the work is the study of the formation and characteristics of liturgical and religious literature, poetics, prose, drama, Cossack chronicles, pilgrimage literature. Heroic and stoic content is in liturgical literature works of A. Radyvylovskyi and L. Baranovych, Alexander Buchynskyi ? Yaskold, Martyn Pashkovskyi and Casin Sakovych wrote about just and unjust wars. Philip Orlyk wrote poetry, where the heroes were not just saints and Christian deities, but hetmans, Cossack leaders, brothers, heroes of military campaigns, notable people from peasants and burghers. Militant poetry is presented with Semen Divovych, Ivan Ornowskyi, Stefan Yavorskyi. Ukrainian baroque drama, prose chronicles covered problem of liberation battle, Ukrainian heroic past. Conclusion. The study, according to the author, can become part of a more complete understanding of the heroic Baroque literature that will be useful for studying the course in the Ukrainian culture history, shaping patriotic consciousness of the modern student of independent Ukraine.
