Abstract

Ahmet Hamdi Akseki is a figure who holds an important place in religious education and religious services in our country. Therefore two symposiums (2004-2013) has been arranged about himself and there, his views on religion education and training are discussed via presented papers. However, in these symposiums religious education principles and methods of Ahmet Hamdi Aksekî: were not under debate as systematically and as a special topic. From this view, in this work his educator side was taken to evaluation by mentioning the general outline of his educator personality, and his religious education principles which he applied in his courses were examined and appraised in todays education principles. The study was developed with historical documentation and content analysis method based on a qualitative pattern. At this point, it has been tried to set out what are the principles of religion education mentioned in the book named “Religion Courses For Our Kids” which is a combined form of his five books, and where his education alphabet is clearly seen. In Akseki's book named “Religion Courses For Our Kids” there is an education method based on in general children's knowledge, skills and mental structure, and it is also possible to say that he uses communication basics effectively while he is trying to teach children new information. In addition, the teaching style to consolidate the subject with poems, stories, anecdotes and experienced events during teaching. According to him its neccessary that the subjects without tedious and prolonged, as well as using of a simple and plain language, that the children can understand the lessons without help of others. It's reveals the fact, that he had given significant place to the principles of religious education during his period. For this purpose, it is an important contribution to the field of Religious Education particularly for the teachers of Religion Culture and Ethics. Therefore I think it's a worth subject for research.
