The article deals with the topical issues of getting future border guard officers ready to use risk analyses methods in operational and service activity. The factors actualizing the problem, the essence of the notion “readiness to use risk analyses methods” are defined, the structure and the content of the notion are briefly characterized. It is established that in the structure of this readiness it is expedient to distinguish motivational (orientation of the person, the main motives), personal (abilities, personal and psychological qualities), cognitive (professional knowledge) and active (practical and executive ? the system of skills and abilities) components. The knowledge and abilities obligatory for a border guard to successfully realize risk analyses and estimation in their operational and service activity are itemized.
