Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the reasons why thermal hotels do not pursue outsourcing strategies. Data of the study has been obtained from 42 thermal hotels which are not outsourcing and operating in Turkey via questionnaire technique. The results of the study indicates that the effective factors in not pursuing outsourcing in thermal hotels centre on two main categories namely hotel-based reasons and supplier-based reasons. It was also figured out that supplier-based reasons have been more effective in not pursuing outsourcing. Among the hotel-based reasons, the risk of losing control over relevant area and the causing future anxiety in hotel staff have been come to the forefront while supplier-based reasons depend on suppliers not being steady, adaptation problems among suppliers' staff and ineligible image of suppliers. Further, it is concluded that hoteliers do not outsource due to the fact that they concern with thermal units as fundamental elements-core competencies- for the hotel image. What constitutes the important conclusion of the study is that the reasons for not outsourcing do not differ by hotel's features and demographics of the hotel managers.
