Abstract

The article aims at substantiating the English language as the chain of completely or partially assimilated loanwords. The authors highlight some significant historical events promoting the appearance of a number of loanwords in the vocabulary of English, and carry out etymological analysis of some loanwords from the point of view of their origin.
