Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to determine principles of lexicographical description in “The RussianPolish dictionary of lexical parallels”. The main criterion for the selection of words is an educational and methodological practicability and needs of users. The meanings are being located, taking into consideration the relevance of the word meaning for modern living Russian speech. The dictionary entry is structured as follows: the Russian entry with its Polish correlates; grammatical characteristics; definition; translation equivalents; stylistic labels; illustrative phrases. Definitions are being developed based on monolingual and bilingual dictionaries of modern Russian and Polish languages, electronic corpuses, as well as on the basis of own linguistic intuition of the dictionary's authors. The dictionary encompasses partial, full and false lexical parallels.
