Abstract
The research is devoted to a life and military servise the hero of War of 1812, Major General G. O. Shestakova (1765–1836), the last boss of Elisavetgrad Hussars Regiment of the Napoleonic wars era. The conditions of his life, career stages, achievements. The paper particularly emphasis on the participation of the hero of scientific intelligence in anti-French military campaigns in 1805, 1806–1807, the Patriotic War of 1812 and foreign campaigns of 1813–1814 against Napoleon's France. Along with the fact based on the archive data the specified dates in the life of General, and his final resting place are submitted. Biographical study allows to draw objective conclusions about the real contribution of Ukrainians in the development of the Russian state and military affairs.
