Abstract
Some conceptual features of development of public and historical ideas of Enlightenment and their displays within the life of Russian historical intellectual space from the end of XVIII till the beginning of XIX centuries are considered in the article. The last one reviews the Russian researcher G.A. Glinka's work "Slavs' Ancient Religion" due to historiographical tradition of Enlightenment. The analysis of scientist's work is conducted, taking into account the features of the epoch, source base of research. The basic aspects of researcher's biography are reviewed. The parallels between biography of author of the first scientific work on the history of Old Russian paganism and terms of intellectual environment in which he lived and created are carried out.
