Abstract
This paper aims to illustrate the use of complex supply chain efficiency model (CSCEM) in measuring supply chain efficiency in a Gabonese company. The CSCEM was developed using variables specially recognized as problem areas encountered by Gabonese supply chains. The CSCEM measures the global efficiency of supply chain based on the efficiency of cost, velocity, reliability. It determines impediments along the supply chain and diagnoses key focus areas for enterprises if they want to boost their global efficiency. The CSCEM can either be used to compare different supply chains over time to determine if any progresses have been made. The CSCEM can also determine areas of deficiencies along the supply chain. The information obtained from the CSCEM model helps managers to identify the inefficient operations and take the right corrective actions for continuous improvement. More importantly, the CSCEM serves as a good reference to managers to make efficient decisions on resource allocations. SCM has a wide scope and encompasses numerous theories about how to develop the supply chain. This paper will not provide details concerning every aspect encompassed in the term SCM. The aim for this paper is to give a view of techniques that can assist Gabonese companies in assessing the efficiency and organizing their supply chains, and to propose models that combine various measures. The proposed CSCEM based approach provides beneficial managerial implications in the evaluation of supply chain efficiency. The study proves the usefulness of CSCEM as a decision-making tool in supply chain. This paper provides useful insights into the use of CSCEM as a modeling tool to help managerial decision making in assessing supply chain efficiency.
