Abstract
This article deals with the stage directions as the necessary element of the drama text structure. It is one of the few types of the direct author's speech in the drama. The investigation of A.S. Pushkin's dramatic art is carried out for a reason: his plays (first of all "Boris Godunov") were created during the crisis period for the Russian theater, and have been conceived as reformative works. Pushkin's stage directions are considered in correlation with the previous – classical – tradition.
