Abstract
Introduction. Most coping mechanisms diagnostic methods have been developed on the basis of the classical test theory. Unfortunately, the classical test theory does not satisfy the requirements of modern fundamental scientific measurements. Purpose. The research purpose was to analyze the construct validity and reliability of the Heim's coping mechanism scales based on the Rasch model. Material and methods. A total of 270 respondents were assessed with the help of the Heim's coping mechanism scale. Difficulty measures of the questionnaire statements were calculated from the research results. The construct validity of each scale was assessed. The indices of reliability and separation statistics were determined. Results. The obtained values of the difficulty measures of the Heim's scale questionnaire statements were distributed in the range of 1.13 to 0.82 logits. Each scale contained statements with UMS and WMS values greater than 1.3. Conclusions. We defined, that the scale statements of the Heim's questionnairewere not balanced by the degree of difficulty. Indicators of reliability for "cognitive" and "emotional" scales showed a low level of reliability, and those for the "behavioral" scale were unacceptable. Using of the questionnaire allows to diagnose only two levels of expression of the tested construct.
