Abstract
In the article, the advantages of colonoscopy over other methods of colon examination in diagnostics of both innocent and malignant tumors are considered. The posthoc analysis of endoscopic examination of the colon at 354 patients hospitalized in Clinical Hospital at the Petrozavodsk station in 2016 is presented. During examination the changes in colon mucosa were detected at 205 patients out of 354; pathology was not detected at 149 patients. In cases of pathological changes, biopsy, followed by histologic examination, was carried out.
