Abstract
Diabetic nephropathy takes the leading position in the structure of microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus [1, 3]. According to the studies conducted within the framework of Federal Target Program “Prevention and Control of Diseases of Social Character” (Diabetes Mellitus Sub-Programme) for 2000-2010 based on the results of diabetic complications screening, the prevalence of diabetic nephropathy in the Russian Federation regions is of 43 %. In the paper, the peculiarities of diabetic nephropathy course at patients with type I and II diabetes mellitus, the evaluation of severity of this complication and comparative characteristics of nephropathy clinical aspects depending on diabetes mellitus type and duration of a disease are presented.
