The names with the national identity content are distinguished. The colonist's surnames are analyzed. The surnames origin and classification are adducted. Author makes the conclusion that the vogue of names with the national identity content among gammalsvenskby people was raised after their emigration to Novorossia region. Situation was changed in the second half of the XIX century. German, French and even Slavonic names became popular during this period in the Gammalsvenskby colony. Nevertheless, it doesn't link with the assimilation process, because Swedish national identity of the Gammalsvenskby inhabitants was connected with the surnames in this time. Specific surnames, which were located only in the Gammalsvenskby colony were better implement the function of connection with the national identity, the colonist's ancestors and the Gammalsvensby past than the names.
