Abstract
Designing of the Russian national identity of the Ukrainian peasants of Volhynia by celebration of events of the Cossack wars of the middle of the 17th century is considered. It is shown that in the commemorative practise it was carried out both national, and regional identification of local peasants as members of «the great Russian people» and inhabitants of Volhynia and Malorossiya.
