Abstract
Big potency of palm oil has been encouraged government of Indonesia to execute palm oil based industrial down streaming and industrial clusters programs. Sei Mangkei Industrial Cluster is an industrial zone which have been planned as palm oil derivative industries cluster. Efficiency relationship between industrial components such as flow of materials and activity relationships is a key factor which should be considered in industrial cluster, therefore a good industrial spatial planning should be formulated. The objective of this research was designing and advising appropriate recommendations for industrial spatial planning in the zone. Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) was employed to design and evaluate some industrial spatial planning alternatives. The evaluation was directed by using some parameters, i.e.: total distance of material handling and work flow. The shortest distance would reduce cost and time of trip generation, congestion and process flow. By using the parameters, the best spatial planning alternative was identified.
