Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to clarify the scientific definition of the concept “communicative competence”, to clarify the conditions for its optimal development among students in the Russian language classes. The article also provides an analysis of theoretical literature on the study of the issue of communicative competence and draws conclusions that one of the most actual issues of modern education is the problem of developing communicative competence.
