Abstract
In this article, the data on the biological characteristics and genetic and breeding potential of wild tetraploid species G.mustelinum Miers ex Watt., the representative of the subgenus Karpas Raf. of genus Gossypium L. was given. As a result, hybridization of species G.mustelinum Miers ex Watt. with realized cultivars of species G.hirsutum L. and G.barbadense L. three generations of hybrids and backcross progeny were obtained and studied. The most promising genotypes on fiber length (41.0-45.0 mm) and output (45.0-47.0 %) were selected in interspecific hybrids obtained by crossing with species G.darwinii Watt. and cultivars “Beshkahramon” (G.hirsutum L.) and “Surhon-9” (G.barbadense L.) and selected productive forms as donors for use in genetic and breeding work.
