Abstract
The culture and life of Kazakhs in the XIX century described in works of the English artist, traveler and ethnographer Thomas Witlam Atkinsonare are considered in this article from an impersonal point of view. The descriptions of household of nomads in interrelation with their spiritual world view, love of freedom and hospitality are remarkable. And, of course, we pay attention to a historical source, "The Turkestan's Collection", thanks to which we have an opportunity to study many scientific works of researchers of XIX – the beginnings of the XX centuries.
