Abstract
The article deals with experimenting as means of forming cognitive competence of senior preschool children. The nature of cognitive competencies, elements and formation ways are considered. Experimenting is determined as the learning method and as a type of cognitive activity of children and adults. The positive characteristics of this method are determined, experimenting is considered through the prism of forming cognitive competences.
