Abstract
The article deals with the main causes of psychological issues at the long-term studying abroad. The process of psychologic intercultural adaptation or acculturation, personal qualities, preventing or promoting successful adaptation and the most efficient strategies aimed at coping with difficulties of living abroad for students are described. The article is based on the clinical material of the author's long-term psychotherapeutic practice with the students studying in the higher educational institutions in the Czech Republic.
