Abstract
The author of the article analyzes the peculiarities of using the number in the work of the primitive artist K. Pankov. Numbers are one of the most well-known classes of sings. They act in K. Pankov one of the dominants of the qualitative and quantitative assessment of the organization of the macrocosm and microcosm. The article reveals the symbolic values of the number in his model of the universe. This model recreating the structure of the universe in sign systems corresponds to the ancient mythological traditions, where the numbers had a sacred significance and served as a means cosmologizing the universe. This enabled the artist to describe the universal concept of the world order of the Ugric-Samoyedic world
