Abstract
The estimation of conditions for the formation of a dust cloud during operation of "dust barriers" passive and active types, still used in mines. It has been shown that these systems are not able to ful ll its mission by extinguishing explosion wave due to mismatch of the main spatio-temporal characteristics of the required value. Analysis of particles accelerate under the in uence of the detonation wave shows that only micron-sized particles can be justi ed assumption of equilibrium between the high-speed gas stream and particles. For relatively large particles speed balance is not available, and for its establishment required times greater than the typical time spent by the particle in the zone of detonation reaction. It is shown that for a more effective suppression of the detonation wave by large particles of speci c fraction is required to increase particle concentration as compared to the optimal concentration determined for particles of micron scale.
