Abstract
The English tradition of the “natural garden style” was dominating in the estates of Russia from 1770 to 1830. The article is devoted to the landscape park of Ivan Bariatinsky in Marino. The owner of the estate has been an ambassador in England. He visited English landscape gardens and knew very well the theory and practice of landscape gardening. The central object of the Maryino park's composition is the great pond, around which various landscape zones were situated. On the project of the park the owner has worked himself as well as the garden masters specially called from England, Gulert and Browne.
