Abstract
Symbolic monuments make the major part of sculptures of Zurab Tsereteli. Most of them deal with the subject of historic memory and present a sculptural vision of the events both of old and present days by the author. His art includes monuments dedicated to historic events only, sculptures as a mirror of the modern time, as well as monuments which unite both subjects of history and the present day. Following the tradition of using symbolic language in art by the most prominent Russian sculptors of the 20th century, Zurab Tsereteli has thoroughly enriched expressive means of modern sculpture.
