Abstract
The present paper is concerned with sculptural works of Manizer, Janson-Manizer, Shadr, Iodko and Chaikov on the theme of Soviet sport and physical culture. Their athlete statues with well-developed bodies personified beauty, agility, strength and health. Monumental decorative, park and indoor sculptural works, performed in an academic and realistic manner, reflecting the morale of the athletes, self-confidence and the focus on sport and labor achievements, are analyzed.
