Abstract
The article is devoted to the symbol of the “railway” in the Tolstoy's novel “Anna Karenina”. In the works of the writer this symbol is connected with inhuman, sinful essence. The same interpretation we meet in the works of Dostoevsky, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Nekrasov, A. Blok, M. Tsvetaeva. The “railway” triumphs over Anna and Vronsky the cruel victory. Their ways of death have been united. This symbol is fundamental in the novel “Anna Karenina”.
