Abstract
The article is devoted to the history of the organization and activities of the group “20 Moscow Artists” in the picturesque section of Moscow United Committee of Graphic Artists. The ten-year history of the group exhibitions (1978—1988) became notable but controversial phenomenon of Moscow artistic life of the late Soviet time. As an independent phenomenon the group's activities have not been the subject of art history research yet. This article elucidates the genesis of creative collaboration in a picturesque section, the place of “20 Moscow artists” among the other creative groups in the picturesque section, the composition of the group that changed over the ten years, the artistic features of the group as a whole and its individual representatives in context of the Moscow school in the late Soviet time. Also the specificity of expositions involving active communication with the audience was examined.
