Abstract
Water-link animation was a new animation style that was created by Chinese directors in global animation art in the early twentieth century. Its creation was a pivotal moment in the history of animation. The film Feeling from Mountain and Water is one of the masterpieces of water-link animation. It plays an important role in the history of Chinese animation, and is a milestone in the development of the Chinese Animation School. This film is very interesting because it is the last work directed by Te Wei, through which he expressed his creative position and understanding of imagery in national animation film. This film is a unique exploration of philosophical and aesthetic thought, and the will of the master. Therefore, in the opinion of this author, Te Wei deserves particular attention and study aimed at understanding the peculiarity of water-ink animation and the specifics of the phenomenon of the Chinese Animation School. The article will go on to give a description of the basic creative principles it encompassed. The second key theme determines the relevance of the study of the creative biography of Te Wei and his exploration in the field of water-ink animation. These themes combine to allow us to understand the structure of the film, its figurative decision, and those techniques, which were used by the master when he was working on the film Feeling from Mountain and Water. The analysis of this film provides the key to understanding not only the phenomenon of water-ink animation, but also the uniqueness of Chinese Animation School.
