Arthur Lourie: beginning of the way

This article is devoted to the piano works of Arthur Lourie, up to now little known in Russia. Author's piano pieces discussed in the article in terms of genre and stylistic approach. The style of his piano pieces, varying from opus to opus reflects the experimental spirit inherent to the author. They are truly innovative works in which Lurie appears a pioneer in the development of many spheres of the musical art.
