Abstract
Developed from a kind of ancient caves, the cave-dwelling isn't the space built with man-made architectural materials on the ground but the residential space of raw soil dug from the earth's crust. Therefore, as the typical architecture of raw soils, it mainly distributes in the Loess Plateau and has the distinctive features including adaptation to local condition, using local materials, saving the resources and returning to the nature, etc. Meanwhile, with the typical style of local architectures and good primitive conditions, it is one of the architectural varieties which are the most consistent with the principle of loess architectures. On the basis of the ecological value of cave-dwellings, the thesis is engaged in the research on the ecology of cave-dwellings and hopes to provide good ideas for the development of modern architectures. In addition, it also hopes to provide some references for the research and innovation of cave-dwellings of West Henan.
