Abstract
The article offers a stylistic analysis of women's custom-made
portraits of Konstantin Somov, belonging to the emigrant (Parisian) period of the artist's work. The focus of the study is a graphic portrait of Berta Popova (1926) and the picturesque — Elena Pitts-Bilibina (1926), Louise Morgan (1926), Elena Somovа (1924). The author of the article touches upon the problem of marginality creativity of Konstantin Somov and other “senior” artists of the “World of Art” in the context of the Paris art situation of the 1920s. Relates the notions of “salon” and “Art Deco” in connection with early and late Somov portraits, makes an attempt to classify women's portraits of Somov, singling out Parisian works 1920's in an independent cycle.
