BLUNT ABDOMINAL TRAUMA WITH CRUSHING INJURY OF THE DUODENUM

Abstract
Background. Injuries of the duodenum, due to blunt abdominal trauma, is still a poorly studied issue. Purpose. To represent the results of successful treatment of severe trauma of the duodenum. Material and methods. This study presents tactical approaches to surgical treatment of blunt abdominal trauma with disruption of the duodenum in 28-year-old patient. Complete transaction of the duodenum from the pancreatic head with the crushing injury of the duodenum along its length was diagnosed during laparatomy. Self-modified reconstructive surgery with preservation of the pancreas was performed. Results. In postoperative period there was external leakage of bile by peritoneal drain. The patient was discharged from the hospital in good health after 44 days. Conclusions. Presented modification of reconstructive surgery can be successfully used for disruption of the duodenum.
