Abstract
The article considers conceptual metaphors used in the subject area of Internet. The authors examine the interpretation of cognition metaphors in the French linguistic school. It is revealed that metaphors of space prevail among the metaphors interpreting the Internet: Ago- ra, labyrinth, forests, tunnels, grottos, mines, nests, spider webs, castles, cities, "global vil- lage", highways, network. The most productive are the metaphors of the water space: ocean, sea, source, stream, surfing, navigation. The paper identifies the sources of this metaphorical model, including the new tendencies in the metaphorical representation of Internet concepts
