Abstract
Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) support the activities of students and teachers in several contexts and domains. These tutors are becoming more common and important. However, they are difficult and expensive to build. In this sense, Software Product Lines have been used for building ITS Families. However, the instantiation of such family systems is still a hard and complex task that involves the manipulation of different knowledge sources with distinct artifacts. In order to mitigate these issues, this paper proposes a semantic tool to assist authors in the instantiation of software product lines on intelligent tutoring systems context aiming to reduce the effort and complexity in the instantiation of such systems. In order to evaluate the proposed tool, a case study is provided for describing the instantiation of an ITS from an Ontology-based Software Product Lines. In addition, an evaluation was done aiming to show the feasibility of the proposed tool. The main conclusion is that this tool reduces the effort and the complexity in the instantiation of such systems.
