The paper presents practical work on astronomy "Completing the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram", the implementation of which is based on the application of the Stellarium computer program - a virtual planetarium and the use of information retrieval skills on the Internet. When doing the work, students get acquainted with the physical characteristics of various stars, they form an idea of ​​the types of stars and their differences.
