Abstract

From the lumber raw material, different products are produced, which is processed by sawing or milling and is characterized by quality indicators. One of the factors in assessing the quality of sawn timber is the accuracy of their dimensions in thickness and width. GOST 26002-83 defines the tolerances for thickness and width. However, saw-timbers obtained as a result of cutting, along the length, have different deviations in thickness and width. To determine the deviations along the length of the board thickness and width, studies were conducted for sawn timber with a section of 32x125 mm cut from the plastic bar. To process the results of the study, a method of classifying by classes was chosen. Dimensions of sawn timber taking into account allowance for shrinkage and allowable deviations vary in thickness from 30 to 35 mm, and in width from 126 to 131.6 mm. Studies have shown that 35% of sawn timber have a deviation above the thickness tolerance. Sawn timber with an oversized allowance width is 48%. Deviations with a minus tolerance for thickness and width were not observed. Overestimated permissible deviations in thickness and width lead to the fact that the enterprise actually ships a larger volume of sawnwood than is established in contracts. Consequently, the possible profit of the enterprise for the products is reduced.
