Abstract
Concrete and steel are predominantly used materials in construction industry. Rapid advancements in concrete technology in the past three decades are outmoded every day. Nano technology also played its role in aggravating the mechanical and durability properties of concrete. In the present study, strength properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength and also durability properties of M30 and M40 grades of concrete with the use of silica fume (5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%) and nano silica (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%) as partial replacement of cement were studied. Finally, corrosion resistance encompassed by the use of accelerated corrosion technique and flexural behavior for conventional and nano material concrete are scrutinized and correlated. This study provides a solution for corrosion conundrum occurring in the reinforced concrete by adopting optimum percentage of nano silica and silica fume as partial replacement of cement.
