Abstract
During the 1950s the Academy of Sciences editions program faced substantial changes. On the background of the brisk development of the research in traditional and new scientific fields there was a quantity increase of the periodicals, especially journals. It was caused by the change in the dynamics of scientific research during this time period, appearance and development of new scientific fields and dynamic gain in the number of young scientists. The editions increase appeared in several directions: by organization of journals of institutions founded in the system of the Academy of Sciences with a view to develop new scientific fields (journals "Automatics", "Applied Mechanics"); by transformation of institutions' periodicals existing as scholarly works and transactions (journals "Soviet Literature Studies", "Ukrainian Historical Journal"); by continuation of editions previously published in academic institutions (journals "Ukrainian Physical Journal", "Popular Art and Ethnography"). New editions foundation and old editions transformation influenced several problems solution all at once. Ukrainian scientists' researches results were published immediately, which had a substantial influence on the acknowledgement of their priority in certain scientific fields. Increased circulation of published journals made a provision for a wide spreading of information on new scientific achievements among the researchers and practical production workers, which was of vital importance in the context of progressive growth of manufacturing in the country
