Abstract
The article covers the history of foundation and development of the Department of Librarian Gatherings and Historical Collections of the V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The Department Fonds consists of two parts: organized book collections and the Fonds of Concentration – unprocessed literature. The author reveals the fonds formation history and offers the directions of the future work with unprocessed literature and the literature transferred to the subdivision from the main depositary of the V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. We have stated that the quantity of book collections can increase thanks to the revealing of provenances of various libraries on books, in particular the books from the libraries of the Assistant Professor of the Department of Slavic Philology of the Kyiv University of Saint Volodymyr Tymofi i Dmytrovych Florynsky, Ukrainian lawyer and law historian Mykhailo Mykytovych Yasynsky, Ukrainian and Russian medieval historian of Petersburg Academy of Scinces Ivan Vasyliovych Luchytsky, privat-docent of the Kyiv University of Saint Volodymyr Yulian Andriyovych Kulakovsky and others.
