Abstract
Sub-acute sclerosing pan-encephalitis is a rare complication of measles occurring in 1in 1million children per year.Typically there is a history of primary measles infection at a very early age, often before 2 years, followed by a 6 to 8 year asymptomatic period. The diagnostic IgG antibody against measles in CSF is usually positive in 1 8 dilutions or slightly higher. Here we report a case of SSPE where the boy had measles at an older age, developed the disease after a short latency, with the CSF showing significantly high titres of IgG antibodies.
