Abstract
Wernickes encephalopathy is a neurological emergency. Failure to identify and treat this condition can lead to death in 20 percentage of cases and in 85 percentage of survivors leads tochronic form Korsakoff psychosis. The classical triad described consists of ataxia, ophthalmoplegia, global confusion but this triad is present only in one third of the case and it has varied clinical presentation and imaging abnormalities. We report a case of Wernickes encephalopathy who presented with ataxia and left internuclear opthalmoplegia with atypical findings in MRI brain.
