Abstract
The article deals with the essence of folk tales' psychological and pedagogical action upon a child's personality. The authors reveal the educational potential of the Ossetian folk tale “Twins”. Its ideal content promote the comprehension of necessity of careful treatment to all living creatures on Earth, the value of such moral qualities as kindness, attentiveness, humanism in relations with other people. The authors make conclusion about the importance of fairy tales in child's personal development, accumulation of experience for his future adult self-activity.
