Abstract
The article focuses on the role of Russian professionally oriented educational and scientific texts in the formation of secondary communicative and professional competence of foreign students of the preparatory faculty. On material of two such texts created by the author (“Chemistry as a science” and “Profession of a chemical engineer”), it is proposed to develop practical training on the scientific style of speech on the theme “Chemistry and Chemists”. The training is addressed to students of the technical profile of the first certification level of training, future chemical engineers, who are native or secondary native speakers of the English language. It can also be conducted with students of the natural-science and medical-biological profiles
