FUNCTIONAL-SEMANTIC CLASSIFICATION OF IMAGE-IMITATING WORDS OF THE KOREAN LANGUAGE

Abstract
In the framework of this article, the semantics of Korean soundimages in Korean fairy tales was ana- lyzed. The analysis was subjected to 183 sound symbols, selected from 74 tales by continuous sampling. As a result, all identified words were divided into the following functional-semantic groups: 1) figurative description of living nature: a) the species, state, movement of the plant world and natural phenomena; b) a description of the appearance of objects and c) light and color phenomena; 2) figurative description of inanimate nature: a) figurative expression of the movement of animals; b) a figurative description of the appearance, condition and movement of a person. And also, the most numerous sound symbols are counted among the words of a figurative description of animate and inanimate nature
