Abstract
The research presented was conducted on the principles of linguocultural approach. The paper discusses the German ethnospecific concept WANDERN as a significant part of the German sphere of concepts. The study is based on lexicographic materials. Our interest in the concept WANDERN is determined by several factors: popularity of the cultural phenomenon itself in Germany, a highly developed sphere of maintaining and providing the cultural phenomenon, a high word-formation activity of the name of the concept, its variety in the modern German language, etc. The analysis of different German dictionaries (general, etymological, phraseological) makes it possible to describe the process of the name of the concept formation during the last seven hundred years; the core of the concept was defined, its basic derivatives and their semantic gradations were described, set phrases and paroemias with the name of the concept were analysed. The analysis demonstrated the cultural significance of the concept and its ethnospecific character, which revealed itself in the notional characteristics of the concept, its strongly-pronounced value-component, multiple derivatives, compound words, set phrases and paroemias with the component WANDER–. Taking into account the results of the research it seems appropriate to continue the study of the concept from the point of view of its representation in different texts; it will be also interesting to conduct associative and receptive experiments, to study the broad cultural context and the concept's connection with such German ethnospecific concepts as ORDNUNG, GEMÜTLICHKEIT, SICHERHEIT, WEG, etc.
