NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE ASPECTS OF THE BOLOGNA PROCESS PRINCIPLES REALIZATION IN THE SYSTEM OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF TRANSLATORS IN GERMANY

Abstract

The article deals with the analysis of the relevance of negative and positive aspects of implementing the objectives of the Bologna process in the system of higher education in Germany, and particularly in the system of vocational training of translators. Ways to tackle the problem have been analyzed and the concepts of new translation curricula have been characterized. The author has carried out an in-depth analysis of related literature, which substantiates the necessity of focusing on the research findings of prominent German scholars in order to implement their progressive experience and innovative concepts into the Ukrainian system of education. The article illustrates the basic problems of implementing the principles of the Bologna process in the system of translators' training in Germany and highlights the views of leading German scientists on this issue. A particular attention is given to the ideas of German scientists which are worth introducing and developing in the educational sphere not only in Germany but also in Ukraine. An important field of translators' training in Germany is a competency-based approach. It is based on the idea of flexibility, variability of programs, and profiling, philological integration with other humanities, criteria, standards and principles of improving the quality of education. Attention is focused on the formation of constructivetechnological, operational, educational, reflective, educational, qualimetric and creative skills of future translators. Despite all the criticism about certain provisions of the Bologna agreement, the process was perceived by the scientific community as an opportunity to upgrade the vocational training of interpreters. Today the undergraduate educational programs are aimed at training interpreters' generalists, while master's programs can be highly specialized as scientific research. Masters' programs prepare highly skilled professionals specialized in translation and provide the foundation for scientific research in translation studies.
