Abstract

The article examines one of the aspects of the crisis of engineering training in higher technical university that appeared in consequence of its inconsistencies the requirements of modern production. High-tech manufacturing requires a new generation of engineers capable to use modern computer technologies at all stages of «the product life cycle». Quality engineering training in higher technical educational institution is a confirmation of the ability of the future engineering-technical specialist to perform his own further research and be engaged in production activity, using CAD. Analysis of basic graphics preparation showed that the basis of her teaching methods continues to dominate the technology of two-dimensional, hand modeling; thus fundamental changes that base upon the innovative development of science, technology and education are required. The innovative technology – 3D-modeling is proposed, the basis of which is the three-dimensional geometric modeling, which allowed to combine all the stages of the life cycle of the product into a single continuous cycle from design to implementation. Generalized informational model of a geometric object is used for modeling in the environment of graphics editor. It is the electronic 3D model that is a primary source, which uniquely determines the set of data about an object, promotes the development of spatially-figurative thinking, professional competence of design-geometrical modeling that make up an important component of training engineers in the Technical University. Thus, new approaches to updating the graphics training are in keeping with the views of scholars who see the future in 3D-computer geometric modeling. It is the engineering education that can not only train the engineers of the future, but also solve problems such as the creation of a viable and stable society. A widely known system of 3D modeling SolidWorks was chosen as a toolkit for solving the problem of graphical training of future engineers. This software covers all the stages of designing: from the designing of the initial sketch to design documentation release.
